Rundle Mountain Stage Race Recap

We had a strong contingent out the the Rundle Mountain Stage Race and managed to take home some solid results. A couple of the highlights included Michael’s GC win (Cat 1/2), Mitch’s win in the Hill Climb and Road Race (Cat 3), Francis’ 3rd in the Road Race (Cat 4), and Mike’s 7th in the Hill Climb (Cat 5). Those results aside, everyone who raced this weekend in the club did us proud. Congratulations!

Higlandia Crit Recap

A huge thanks to everyone that came out and raced or volunteered for the Highlandia Criterium! We had some great performances highlighted by Stewart’s 5th in Cat 5 and Francis’ 4th in Cat 4 (and he tried to tell us he was bad at sprinting)! Nice work everyone.

Learn to Group Ride Clinics

If you missed it last week, make sure you make this week’s Learn to Group Ride Clinic! This week we have been invited to join the ERTC Women’s Group (where Michael will also be an instructor) on Wednesday at 6:30pm at the Edmonton Research Park. Please note that this clinic in intended for women who either have raced or are interested in racing a crit. New Club Clothing 

The big news of the week is that our long awaited club clothing online store is up and running! We’ve made a switch to Jakroo which has allowed the club to do the entire order process online. What this means is that when you login and order something, it will show up at your doorstep. For more information, have a look at the Club Clothing Page.

Climbing Camp

In other news, registration is up and running for our Climbing Camp in Jasper, AB on June 2-4. Please have a look at the Climbing Camp page for all the details.

2017 Drayton Valley 100 

We are also in the process of putting together a team for this year’s DV100. Last year we won and there is 2000 of prize money on the line, can we repeat this time around? Early bird team registration closes on May 31, so please fill out the form ASAP if you are interested in being on the 8 rider team!

 

Learn to Group Ride Clinics

If you missed it last week, make sure you make this week’s Learn to Group Ride Clinic! If you are new to the sport of cycling, want learn some road riding etiquette, and become more comfortable riding in a group, these are the perfect rides for you! They will start at 6:30pm in Hawrelak Park, at the first major picnic area on the right (Site #1) at 6:30. The sessions will cover some basic bike handling skills, Tips and Tricks, and Group Riding Expectations for the first two weeks, and then work on more advanced skills out on the Road later if anyone is interested.  Expect the pace to be relaxed, consistent, and predictable every week. Urban Hills Tonight!

Okay, so we are a little slow on the Weekly Update this week, but for now it will have to be enough to know that Urban Hills is a GO for tonight! See below for all the details.

Tuesday, May 23: Urban Hills

Come on out for Urban Hills night! Worried that you aren’t fit enough? Well don’t be! Urban Hills is perfect for all levels. After each set of hills (and you can choose to do as many or as few as you’d like) we regroup and ride a nice easy pace to the next climb. 

Start Time: 6:00pm at the Ritchie Market, 6:15 at Cloverdale Hill

Ride Start Location: Ritchie Market at 6:00, Cloverdale Hill at around 6:15. We will end the ride at Rosso Pizzeria and you are more than welcome to stick around for a pizza post-ride!

UPDATE: Please note that we have change our ride meeting points this week for both Saturday and Sunday. 

And …. the Velocity Stage Race p/b Velofix is a wrap! A huge, huge, huge thank you to all the volunteers that made this event possible. You can all give yourself a big pat on the back (and check your email later today for the winners of the volunteer draw prizes!) for standing out in the cold rain.

Now that the VSR is done, the Learn to Group Ride Clinics are (finally) here!! We’ve been putting these off for a couple of weeks as we prepared for the Stage Race, but no more excuses.
