VCC April 23 Update

No Rides Scheduled This Weekend

We had some routes in the works, but this weekend’s weather forecast is looking like a return to winter. If somehow the forecast improves, please meet up on your own.

VCC Open Track Sessions

For the next 4 sessions, I’ll be away supporting our members during the Penticton Riding Camp. If all goes well, I should be back to coach the Sunday, May 10 session.

In the meantime, the on-duty AVA Track Monitor will sign you in, open up the rental bikes, and monitor riders under the Open Track training format. Key rules to follow are:

Open Track Etiquette & Safety

After the initial ~10-minute warm-up:

  • Tempo riding: Blue stayers line
  • Hard efforts: Sprinters lane only
  • Red Sprinters Line → Blue Stayers Line Zone: Transition area only — do not ride there
  • Recovery:
    • Preferably on the apron
    • If necessary, up on the blue, staying predictable
  • Pace: Riders self-select appropriate groups
  • Passing rule:
Always shoulder-check and call “STICK!” before overtaking up-track and over the right

This structure keeps everyone safe, smooth, and fast.

Final Reminder: 2025 Race Fee Reimbursements

We had a deadline of April 1 – but we’ll give you one more week to submit 2025 race expenses for reimbursement. We can only reimburse you for ABA-sanctioned races. No out-of-province races nor gran fondos nor charity rides. Put all of your supporting entry fee receipts (copies of PDFs or email entry confirmations) into an email. Please total everything up and put that in the body of your email. Send them to our Treasurer Paul Ermantrout, at: [email protected] This is the LAST CALL.

Sunday May 31: Ride cancelled due to rain and high winds.
