Thank You Casino Volunteers!
Your Executive Board, your Coach and most of all, your fellow Club Members extend their warm appreciation for the time you took … from your day or your night … to help during our casino event.
Luckily, there were no Rogers Place events at the time, and the Grand Villa Casino was relatively quiet. That let us get by with a skeleton crew. If the Oilers had been playing either night, the place would have been packed and we’d have needed all hands on deck.
Club Rides
April has frequent weather issues getting in the way of our club rides. There could yet be some snow this week, and Saturday’s forecast high is only around 6°. I’m not scheduling a ride this weekend. But I’m hopeful for next weekend, with a start from the Olympiette Centre.
This year, Cycling Canada has gotten the club a free Link My Ride account. This is an app created by Tom Pidcock and his mates. So, I’ll be trialling the platform for sharing our weekly rides. Depending on how well people adapt to using the app, it could become the primary way I’ll share rides and updates.
But for the first couple of months, I’ll be using both Link My Ride and our Event Calendar here on the website for posting our weekly ride details. If there are any late-hour ride cancellations due to bad weather, it will be posted to the Announcement Bar at the top of the website, as well as the messaging feature in Link My Ride.
To use Link My Ride this season, download the phone app for free and create your account. Then use the “Explore” map to find our club in Edmonton and request to join:
Once you’re following Velocity in the app, you’ll see the weekly rides you can join as they get posted. Keep notifications enabled to make sure you never miss an update.
April Jakroo Opening
Mark your calendars now with the dates April 22 to May 5. All items will be available to order, including the new BMX jersey.
Don’t place an order before that window, because you won’t get the very best quantity pricing. During our open window, the orders are held so we can reach the best quantity discounts on each item. Then, when the store closes on May 5, everyone gets the same best price on their items and their order will be delivered to their homes about 2 weeks later.
Penticton Riding Camp
If you have the time to join us, spring riding in Penticton never lets us down! And bring your passports for the day trip excursion across the border into Washington State for a big day of climbing!
