VCC Update - March 6, 2021

On Sale NOW – VCC Club Clothing

The Velocity Jakroo kit store is now open and ready to accept your order.

The store will have preferential pricing available until March 21. Deliveries will then take place on about April 4 … just in time to get some new kit for the start of the season, and our Penticton riding camp at the end of April.

After this ordering window, kit will still be available on-demand, as soon as your order is received and delivered 2 weeks later. But pricing will be higher, at the 2-5 quantity level.

Jakroo has slightly modified the jersey styling, creating a bit of an angle to the rear pockets and a different collar. The Slim sizing is the same as before. The Relaxed fit is apparently a little more relaxed. Here’s the current size chart: Jakroo Sizing

If you have any questions about which size to select, please reach out directly to our Jakroo clothing rep Ryan McKee: Ryan@Jakroo.ca He’s happy to help!

Spring Thaw = Spring Riding

Though the club isn’t starting up regular outdoor riding just yet, members have been saying the roads in Strathcona County, east of the city, are remarkably ride-able for this time of the year. We’ve not had too much snow this winter. Only a few of the shady bits are still a bit damp.

You’ll still want to avoid city riding. The local streets are sandy and very wet in places. But if you hop in your car, drive to the Olympiette Centre or Ardrossan Rec Centre, you’ll avoid almost 100% of the sloppy stuff out there.

Layer up, and hit the roads!

In the meantime, we are still riding our regular Saturday morning Zwift sessions. Just sign-up on my Zwift Meetup form to get regular Zwift Meetup Invites from me >>>HERE<<<

March Club Meeting

At the beginning of this month’s meeting, I’m arranging to have former world champion, Olympic and Commonwealth medallist (and Velocity Cycling Club alumna!!) Tara Whitten give us a talk about her journey through a concussion leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The meeting will be held via Zoom on Monday, March 22 at 7pm. All 2021 members will receive a Zoom Meeting invite via direct email.

Send agenda items you’d like to discuss to our President, Ed Heacock: president@velcocitycyclingclub.ca.

2021 Club Memberships Now Available

Want to hear Tara’s talk? Then go grab your 2021 Velocity Club Membership NOW! With COVID vaccinations rolling out, we may be back to something much closer to normal before the end of summer. And there’s still much club riding we can do even under the current restrictions. Just ask a few of the members who rode last season.

Head on over to Karelo NOW!
