Jakroo has slightly modified the jersey styling, creating a bit of an angle to the rear pockets and a different collar. The Slim sizing is the same as before. The Relaxed fit is apparently a little more relaxed. Here’s the current size chart: Jakroo Sizing

March Club Meeting Next Monday

Tara Whitten is ready to give us a talk about her “little” concussion adventure during her recon ride of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games course.

Her presentation will start at 7pm on March 22, and then we’ll conclude with our regular club meeting. ONLY 2021 club members will receive a Zoom Meeting invite via direct email. Look below to purchase your membership today.

Send meeting agenda items you’d like to discuss to our President, Ed Heacock: president@velcocitycyclingclub.ca.

2021 Club Memberships Now Available

In the very least we’ll have a paceline-style Saturday club ride going soon. Before the end of March if this weather persists! And hopefully more riding adventures await us as we can get this wretched pandemic behind us.

Head on over to Karelo NOW!

YEG Cycling Tuesday Timing

To supplement your Velocity membership, a few of us in the YEG Cycling community will be taking steps to restart the Tuesday night racing scene.

Only open to ABA affiliated club members, we’ll be offering a season long series of pandemic-restriction-friendly time trials.

Women, Paracyclists, Juniors and Men will be included together using a factoring system to give everyone a chance. There will be no holders, no intersection guides (all courses are rectangles of right hand turns so know the course before racing). You will be solely responsible for conduct.  YEG Cycling will provide each pre-selected circuit, individual start times, and one volunteer to watch you start and time your run. At the end of the event, organizers will publish a list of results with raw times and factored times.

A season pass can be purchased for $20 covering all events or individual timing will be $5 per date. If you post a valid result for all dates all fees will be refunded by e-transfer –sign up and participate in all and it’s free!

We’re planning our first event for May 11, weather permitting. Events will be held every second Tuesday. Stay tuned as we firm-up the details. The first course offered will be in Strathcona County.

Penticton Spring Riding Camp

Unless restrictions tighten again, we’re continuing to be hopeful about heading to Penticton for a week of early season riding in the south Okanagan Valley.

We’ve got a block of rooms available for members at the Penticton Tiki Shores Beach Motel for April 24 to May 2, 2021. Call the hotel direct to make your reservation, asking for the Velocity Cycling Club block of rooms: Phone (250) 492-8769.

Zwifters HopOn with Woodsy!

On Sunday, March 21, at 8am MST ride alongside Olympian and World Championship medalist Mike Woods in support of Cycling Canada’s HopOn program.

Ride a 25.5-kilometre Zwift course with Mike all the while helping get more kids on bikes! For every participant, Lexus Canada will donate $1 to the Cycling Canada national grassroots program, giving more kids across Canada the opportunity to learn basic cycling skills.

Using the Zwift Companion app, look for the HopOn Ride with Woodsy at 8am on March 21 under the Events tab.
