Our weekly ride schedule stays the same. It’s posted on our Calendar as well as in the club’s Strava event feed.
Each week I will have a mapped “official” route. That’s so we can at least start with a plan. I’ll be leading the official route whenever possible. Please feel free to self-organize into your own group and directions. But it’s usually best to keep the same planned start location and time. At least that way everyone will know when and where to show up.
Sunday we leave again from Spruce Grove. Hopefully the weather will cooperate so we can try the new leg to make it closer to a 3hr ride. With the season progressing, it’s time to add more distance into your weekend riding.
Tuesday and Thursday hills and intervals continue to challenge everyone. Either push yourself or test the rider closest to you on these rides. They’re all about making you stronger on your bike!
Jason Redfern, our Thursday MTB ride leader, tells me regular MTB rider participation seems to have dropped off. So we’ll continue the ride on an unofficial basis, with or without a ride leader. Those members interested, and whenever the weather appears to be cooperating, are welcome to set off at 6:30pm Thursdays from the Giant Edmonton bike shop location.
Upcoming Race Calendar
Red Deer’s CABC hosts a 27km Time Trial this Saturday. Deadline to enter is Thursday night. I’m racing this event, so please don’t be looking for me to start Saturday’s ride.
Remember we host our own Race the Clock Time Trial next weekend, on Sunday, June 24. We still need volunteers to make this a great day of racing for novices and experienced “clock crushers.” Please discover all the details at this link: Race the Clock ITT
Share the race page link with your Facebook and Twitter friends too. We’re accepting citizen entries, so licensed and non-licensed riders can test themselves. Triathletes too can check their bike pacing just prior to the Great White North event only two weeks later on July 8.
Criterium Racing Coming to Castrol Raceway
Yes, you read that right. Bike racing arrives on an Edmonton car racing circuit.
Similar to our old Tuesday night crit racing, Castrol Raceway will host a test event on the evening of Tuesday June 26. The race track will be split into two separate race courses, allowing two races to run simultaneously. No ABA license needed, only an affiliated club membership. It’ll be a great intro to crit racing for anyone interested, and extra practice for everyone else.
Expect more details soon, and spread the word to all the other clubs. If this event has enough participation, it will turn into a multi-event summer series!
