Spring Has Sprung!
Finally, the snow is gone and the temperatures are pushing towards 20°.
We’ve got rides planned for each day this weekend. A group of us will still be riding in the (summer-like) Okanagan Valley to conclude our Penticton Riding Camp. But the rest of you will have almost equally warm weather at home.
Saturday, meet at 10am at the Ardrossan Rec Centre to head north of HWY 16 for a little 63km loop with just a bit of climbing.
And on Sunday, the Colchester Hall parking lot should now be dry and usable. Park there to head out at 10am on an easy-paced 65km ride.
Reminder: Silent Auction of Club Equipment
Randy is still accepting silent email bids for the remaining club equipment. See what we’re clearing out on the BUY/SELL page of our website. Bidding closes on May 17. Randy will bring the items to our May 13 Track Session so you can see it all first-hand.
VCC Open Track Sessions – May 3 and 6
Two more un-coached track sessions are coming up. I still plan to be back to coach the Sunday, May 10 session.
For those who need reminding, here are the rules to follow:
Open Track Etiquette & Safety
After the initial ~10-minute warm-up:
- Tempo riding: Blue stayers line
- Hard efforts: Sprinters lane only
- Red Sprinters Line → Blue Stayers Line Zone: Transition area only — do not ride there
- Recovery:
- Preferably on the apron
- If necessary, up on the blue, staying predictable
- Pace: Riders self-select appropriate groups
- Passing rule:
Always shoulder-check and call “STICK!” before overtaking up-track and over the right
This structure keeps everyone safe, smooth, and fast.
