2020 “World Championship” Individual Time Trial
You’re receiving the club update message a couple days early, to make sure everyone gets the chance to enter this year’s “World Championships” – and in this year of pandemic restrictions, no out-of-country travel is required for this championship event!
The real World Championship time trials will be contested the next two days in Imola – Emilia-Romagna, Italy. If you’ve got a Flobikes streaming subscription, make sure you watch to get yourself psyched up.
Then, on Saturday, September 26, Velocity Cycling Club will be hosting (the only??) informal “World Championship” Individual Time Trial. We’re using TWP 520. Park at the Olympiette Centre as the start/finish is quite near there. DO NOT park right at the start – no need to anyway with the Olympiette Centre so close by.
We’ve opened registration to any ABA-affiliated cyclist. So, please feel free to spread the word to your riding mates in the other clubs.
The distance is 20km. STANDARD ROAD BIKES AND WHEELS only! It’s an old skool “Eddy Merckx-style” ITT.
Everyone participating will give this event its “World Championship” angle by selecting a country they want to represent. If you have it, wear some kit from the country you’ve selected. Have you had your DNA tested? Maybe select the country of your major DNA ancestors then. Hmm, for me that turns out to be Scotland, despite my Polish last name!
We still need to be quite cautious with our AHS COVID restrictions. No holders will be provided. Spaced start times to avoid people hanging around each other. And please follow 2m physical distancing in the parking areas if chatting with your riding friends.
All the details you’ll need to know are on the World Championship Event Page.
If you already know you want to test yourself, then <<<REGISTER HERE>>>
Registration closes on FRIDAY, September 25, 2020, at 4pm MST. Start times will be emailed the evening of September 25.
No Saturday Club Ride
With the ITT event planned, there will be no club ride this weekend. That also gives you no excuse to test yourself in the ITT!
And for those with a Flobikes subscription, make sure to watch the Women’s World Championship Road Race Saturday morning!
It doesn’t get easier. You just get better.
