VCC Update – October 1, 2021

Going but not gone yet

This past week we concluded our weekday rides. On Monday we had a spectacular evening on the track that felt like mid-summer, not late fall. Then on Wednesday evening we rode through the colourful fall leaves in the river valley, as Doc Watson took us on his Hilly Medicine circuit with about 360m of climbing.

Weekend rides will continue as long as the weather allows.

Saturday Club Ride

This week we’ll return to a similar circuit of a couple weeks back, except this time we’ll start 10am at the old Wye Elementary School Site (just off Wye Road on the east side of Sherwood Park) instead of the Ardrossan Rec Centre.

We should see lots of fall colours on the route:

Casino Reminder

About every 2 years the club raises the majority of its funding through casino volunteering.

This year we’ve been given the days of December 7 and 8. Please mark those dates on your calendar now. We’ll be reaching out to fill the volunteer shifts in the next few weeks.

Cycling does it all – you have the complete satisfaction of arriving because your mind has chosen the path and steered you over it; your eyes have seen it; your muscles have felt it; your breathing, circulatory and digestive systems have all done their natural functions better than ever, and every part of your being knows you have traveled and arrived.
