October 4 to 10 Update

Another FUN Fall Harvest Ride

Our Harvest Ride on the trails of Blackfoot this past Sunday had about 25 riders. Besides Velocity, we had riders from ERTC, PRW, Juventus and one non-ABA rider.  Over $700 (big round of applause) was raised for the Alberta Cancer Foundation in memory of Roger Tetrault.

This year’s honorary rider of Roger’s old bike “Goldy” was Bernie Fagnan, in recognition for all his volunteer service organizing the Harvest Ride over the years.

Remember, we host the final ‘cross race in Edmonton this season. October 20 in the Strathcona Science Park. Soon we’ll have the Volunteer Sign Up sheet created so everyone can join in the fun – on and off your bike!

Save the Date for Our Club Dinner and AGM

We’ll hold our annual club dinner and AGM on Saturday November 2, 5:30 to 9:30 pm at McKernan Community League Hall. All members, partners and families are welcome. Nominally priced tickets will be available later this month. Come see what we really look like without our helmets on!

Club Equipment Clear-Out

We still have some equipment to sell off. Since this gear was bought using casino funds, we need to capture reasonable fair market value and return the funds to our casino account.

Here’s what still needs to be unloaded:

  • 1 Garmin 500 computer $90
  • 1 new 700c front wheel $40
  • 1 used 700c rear wheel $25
  • 1 fluid trainer $50
  • 1 Giant cross bike size L with Shimano 10 speed Ultegra $400
  • 1 50 cm Marinoni track bike very lightly used $500
  • 1 60 cm Marinoni track bike essentially new $700

New Start Time for Weekend Rides

Let’s give the mornings one more hour to warm up. Weekend rides will now depart at 11am until the end of the season (usually around the last week of October or first week of November).

The Saturday ride starts from near the Servus Credit Union in the Harvest Pointe shopping complex. Leaving 11am, it heads east, looping to Cooking Lake and passing by the Olympiette Centre on the way back. About two hours and just over 60kms. Please be careful crossing Highway 21 and 14. Strava Route posted HERE: https://www.strava.com/routes/21561893

The Sunday ride starts west of town, 11am at the Acheson PetroCan/Truck Stop area. Suggested 70km hilly Strava Route posted HERE: https://www.strava.com/routes/19516571

Don’t get caught up riding so hard that you lose the essence of joy in your journey.
