August 31 – September 7 Weekly Update

‘Cross Season Has Launched!

The cyclocross season has begun its weekly muddy madness. Keep up your competitive spirit and test your fitness. Every weekend until the end of October, you’ll find events in our region, or Red Deer or Calgary/Canmore. And of course there’s your chance for a short punchy workout/skills test in the Wednesday Midweek Cyclocross Race at Goldbar Park at 7pm.

Velocity Wins Provincial Time Trial Medals

This past weekend, Kim Walter was crowned the Alberta Open Women Champion!  Congratulations Kim on yet another stellar performance this season! Looks like you’re staying right on target for your run at the ITU Grand Final in Australia in 2 weeks. Keep up your swimming and running. Looks like your cycling will be solid.

Colleen Malcolm grabbed GOLD in Master Women’s B. And Coach Kevin sneaked away with a Bronze in Master C.

DV-100 Is Just Around the Corner

Drayton Valley hosts their annual DV-100 Gran Fondo on Saturday, September 8. It’s billed as a ride or race with 40km, 100km and 160km course distances. Velocity members have challenged it all ways in the past. Just know there are no ABA results points given out – but there are some impressive cash prize awards on offer for 1-2-3 placings overall and in age groups – better prize money than any of our sanctioned events!

Check out the event page to see which challenge interests you: http://dv100.ca/

The deadline to express your interest is Friday, August 31.

Please email Coach Kevin and let me know you’d like to participate! coaching@velocitycyclingclub.ca
