Velocity CX Smoked Out!!
We extend a big THANK YOU to Jason Redfern for all the organizational effort he put into the race, and the rest of the volunteers too. Unfortunately the AQHI was just too rotten and unsafe for racing on Sunday. Even the Tubs on Tubs races on Saturday afternoon were cancelled.
Airport Fondo!
Saturday could be the biggest ride EVER for some of you! This year I’ve adjusted the routes slightly to include the Twin Island Airpark as the first stop for everyone. The Cessna and 737 distances remain similar, but the Jumbo Jet will be about 247km!
The Cessna route will be the regular Saturday ride option for the club. I’d like anyone riding with us at all on Saturday to please SIGN UP on the Google forms linked on the Airport Fondo Event description on our calendar. I’ve sent an email mid-day Thursday to the current sign-ups. If you didn’t get that email, you haven’t signed up yet.
(NOTE: A couple of weeks ago I still had last year’s sign-up forms linked – so if you put your name on one of those, it’s gone now. Please, if you thought you signed up and didn’t get my email today, go put your name down on what’s the correct form now.)
Roger’s Harvest Ride
Our annual Harvest Ride in memory of Roger Tetrault, a long-time club member who we lost to cancer, will be on Saturday, September 23.
If you haven’t joined us for the recent editions of this ride, we meet at the Waskahegan Staging Area and ride ‘cross or mountain bikes on the trails from there. There’s also a road ride option for those without off-road bikes. A BBQ follows when all the riding has finished.
ABA affiliated club-members are welcome to join us. So can other riders who sign a one-ride waiver. We would like each rider to SIGN UP for this event to help us plan the food for the BBQ. Friends and family not riding are also welcome to join, but please sign up too so we can plan food their food.
We encourage each of you to make a Cancer Foundation donation in either Roger’s name to support Skin Cancer or in another name in an area of cancer research that has special meaning for you: Donate – Alberta Cancer Foundation
Coach Kevin’s Holiday
Just a heads up – my wife an I are off for about 3 weeks to Poland and Portugal – Poland to see family and Portugal to ride bikes and tour some wineries! I’ll be away from September 15 to October 5. Please don’t let my absence stop you from coming out to the rides. All are still scheduled on our Event Calendar and someone in the group should either have the route on-hand or know the roads well enough to lead you all safely.
