VCC June 12 Update

Sign Up for the Confident Rider’s Clinic

Next Saturday, June 21, I’ll host my Confident Rider’s Clinic at the Strathcona Olympiette Centre at 10am. This clinic will help those who are rather new to road riding understand the basics of proper bike handling skills and group riding techniques. Expect about 1:30 to 2hrs of group instruction.

To gauge interest, and help me know who to expect, please sign up for the Clinic using this Google Form.

The group ride will also leave from the Olympiette Centre that day too.

Saturday Ride
We’ll need to keep watching the AQHI readings for the rest of the summer. At a 7, I’ll lead a ride, but will keep it easy and cut it short to about an hour. Higher than a 7 will lead to a cancellation for sure. I use the AQHI reports from Environment Canada. Visit the club website and you’ll see a notice bar at the top if anything gets cancelled. Wet roads and/or a greater than 60% chance of rain during our riding time-window will also likely trigger ride cancellations.

We’ll have one more group ride venture this month from Colchester Community Hall. I’ve planned a longer 83km loop this week, so come prepared with some nutrition in your pockets besides whatever mix you’ve got in your bottles.

Sunday Ride
Arneil will lead the looong Sunday road ride this weekend. Expect the same 102km loop as the first one he used on May 11. All the details are on the Event Calendar:

Monday Track Night
Come on down to Argyll Velodrome for our session that starts at 7:30pm

Tuesday MTB Ride
Poor AQHI forced a cancellation last week. Justin will try again this week at 6pm in Terwillegar Park. And you’ve always got the option to join the $5 Fat Tire Tuesday racing in Terwillegar Park instead.

Wednesday Hill Circuit
And let’s hope again that the air will be clear for the Hill Circuit leaving Emily Murphy Park at 6:30pm.
