June 21 Confident Rider Clinic

Where: Staging from the Strathcona Olympiette Centre
When: 10am
What: This clinic is targeted to newer road cyclists who want to become more confident with their road bike handling skills and feel more comfortable when riding with our groups on the club rides.
Coach Kevin will lead about 2 hours of bike skills and group riding technique instruction.
Ensure your bike is in good working condition. You may want to have running shoes on-hand if you aren’t 100% comfortable with your clip-in pedals yet. Some of the slow-speed drills will challenge your ability to quickly un-clip and put a foot down. You should also wear cycling gloves, should you need to brace yourself during a slow-speed fall – it doesn’t take much to scrape the palm of your hand!

For all club rides we conduct, EVERY rider should be a member of Velocity Cycling Club to participate.

Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
Always carry your ID.
If any mishap happens to you or another rider in your group:
- Ensure you are safely off the road.
- Call 911
- Station a rider to direct traffic away from the scene.
- While waiting for 911 help to arrive, administer any first aid you know that will help.
- Send a cyclist for help if necessary, or to direct emergency services to the site.
