Saturday Club Ride
The ride will begin from the Ardrossan Rec Centre this week. It’ll head north to make a pass through Fort Saskatchewan and then east towards (but not quite as far as) Elk Island. The full route is 82km.
Monday Track Session Resumes
This coming Monday I’ll be back at the Argyll Velodrome to provide your structured track training session. If you haven’t given this a try yet, there’s still time to get started this season. We have the bikes. You just need to bring your own pedals and shoes. Actually, we even have a few different styles of pedals like Look Keo and Shimano SPD, if you really only want to bring your shoes.
The session opens at 5pm with the actual riding starting about 5:30 and finishing at 7.
Festivus Pedalis!
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned Alex Stieda is hosting the gravel event Festivus Pedalis on July 30. Alex has given Velocity a special invitation to participate. He’s got more details to release now.
There are 50, 100, 150 and 200km route options. Minimal support will be provided by Revolution Cycle. Everyone will get prizes and be eligible for additional draw prizes.
The Start/Finish is at the Strawberry Creek Raceway, southwest of Edmonton. Entry fee is $25. Please see more details and register on Alex’s Festivus Pedalis event website.
Velocity Gravel Event
Next up on the calendar of activities we’re hosting is the Alder Flats Gravel Event on August 20. We’ll be offering routes of 56km and 104km with Open categories for Men and Women. Most of the riding will be on challenging, twisty-turny gravel roads.
As we bring together the details for this epic event, watch for another volunteer call-out in the next few weeks.
