VCC August 24 Update

Velocity CX Next Sunday, September 3

Spread the word to all cyclocross fans. Come race. Come watch. Come cheer … and even some will come jeer! It’s all part of the incredible fast-paced fun that is ‘cross!

The Tech Guide is complete and published. Zone4 has the registration link. Find it all on the ABA Event Calendar, and our own Velocity Event Calendar.

We’re gearing up for the event and need your support to make it a triumph. As the backbone of our club, your participation as volunteers is what fuels the energy of these events. It’s a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community that shares our passion. From course marshals to refreshment providers, there’s a role tailored for everyone. Step up for your club and be part of the action by signing up as a volunteer using our quick and convenient Volunteer Signup Sheet. Your dedication keeps our wheels spinning!

Saturday Club Ride

For one more time this season, we’ll meet at Edgemont Landing. The route takes us to the west side of HWY 60, this time for about 80km. Right now, the weather forecast looks like a great late-summer day.

Velocity Afterburner Gravel

The club’s inaugural mission into the gravel universe was a success! 10 hardy gravel grinders took to the 105km course through the forested terrain on nearly 100% gravel just outside Alder Flats. Josh Barker was first, our own hardman Mike Wichuk was second and Darryl Heidebrecht was third. But judging from the smiles on everyone’s faces, I’d say all the riders felt like winners!

Huge thanks goes to Ed Heacock for all the work he did to secure the venue and stake out the course.

Preliminary plans are on-deck to host the event again next year. If word gets around (and please do spread the word!) our field limit of 100 entries should hopefully sell-out!

Track Provincials This Saturday and Sunday

Make some time this weekend and head over to the Argyll Velodrome to watch Alberta’s finest battle it out for the Provincial titles. Racing starts at 10am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday. Come watch Canada’s future track stars!

MidWeek Racing’s Last Event

Weather confounded us again this week! So, the last MidWeek road event has been pushed to next Wednesday. It’ll be a fun urban double-header hill climb followed by a social get together. Find all the details HERE.
