VCC Airport Fondo – 2025
What
This year, there are 2 Fondo options for you to choose from: the Cessna (94km) and the 737 (162km). When the ride is scheduled earlier in September or August we also offer the Jumbo Jet (241km). New on the Jumbo Jet route, you can avoid riding through Fort Saskatchewan by using the new northeast shared pathway bridge across the North Saskatchewan River and leave out the little Lechelt Airstrip (because it’s so small that it’s easy to miss). If you ever plan to take on the Jumbo Jet, expect more than 10 hours of riding! For the adventurous, you could ride the Jumbo Jet on your own. There are plenty of convenience stores along the way to make your day self-supporting!
Why “Airport” Fondo?
Because each route will “touch down” at some of the airports and landing strips in the greater Edmonton area.
How
Each Fondo route will start from the Strathcona Olympiette Centre. All groups will leave together at 8am.
The Cessna Fondo will pass by the Twin Island Airpark, Cooking Lake Airport and turn back to the Olympiette Centre after reaching the north end of the International Airport.
The 737 and Jumbo Jet groups will continue to the Parkland Airport, where the 737 riders will start riding back to the Olympiette Centre.
The Jumbo Jet Fondo group continues riding to make a complete clockwise loop around the city, taking in the Villeneuve Airport, the old Namao Airbase, and the Josephburg Aerodrome. At 241kms, this could be your biggest ride ever!

Is This For You?
Are you rubbing your hands together, saying, “Yes!! I’m in!”
This late in the year, I’m hesitant about offering the BIG Jumbo Jet option. Nonetheless, I’ll put it out there and, depending on sign-up numbers, will see if there’s enough demand to run it.
Here are the sign-up forms you need to use for each of these routes. We will also need a ride leader for the Cessna ride to ensure that group makes its way safely back to the Olympiette Centre:
Jumbo Jet Fondo Sorry folks, not this year!
