Racing the Crit this Sunday? Now you can volunteer to marshal too!

If you’ve already signed up to marshal the full day at the crit, amazing – we love you! If you’re racing and thought to yourself, “If only there was a way to race and volunteer,” have we got the solution for you! Based on discussions at the club ride last night, there is now an option to marshal in either the morning OR afternoon, so you get the best of both worlds; you can now race your heart out AND help keep your fellow riders safe on the roads.  You can sign up to volunteer by clicking here. If you’re riding in the women’s crit and want to help out, send me an email at jessica.wyllie@ualberta.ca and we can modify your marshaling time.

Hope to see you all this weekend!

VSR Volunteers

Hello to all of our wonderful club members!

As you are probably aware, the Velocity Stage Race is coming up in 9 short days (May 13th & 14th). We have an awesome course, lots of great riders signed up, and some great weather predicted; the only thing we still need are volunteers to make sure we can actually run the event.

To those of you who have already volunteered, thank you! If you haven’t yet had a chance to volunteer, please consider doing so in the next few days. There are still positions that can be filled even if you are racing (i.e. placing signage on Saturday and set-up and take down on Sunday). Our greatest need is for road marshals; if you have friends/family coming out to support you, consider asking them if they would be willing to marshal.

All the information about volunteering can be found here, including links to the position descriptions and the signup sheet. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact me directly at jessica.wyllie@ualberta.ca

This event is only possible with our incredible volunteers, we look forward to seeing you there!

Weekly Update: Jan 9-15

Thanks to a little bit of fresh snow on the ground, our first XC Ski evening will be TODAY!!! (Monday), so mark it on your calendar and plan to come out to Gold Bar Park  from 7-8:30pm for a causal hour and a half of skiing that’s suitable for experienced and new skiers!

Besides, that, everything is as normal for the new year. Remember, if you are interested in getting out (or rather, in) a little more this week, make sure you check (or post) which rides you’ll be doing on Zwift to meet up with other club members.

Lastly, Aerobic Power, the gym where we do out Indoor Training workouts are going on strong! If you’ve signed up for these are and are unable to attend, please remember to post these on the swap board so that other members can attend.  Continue reading

We had a very successful Roger’s Harvest Ride with over 200 people signed up! A huge thanks to everyone that helped make this event a success!

Two World Cups and five races later and I’m finally back from my whirlwind trip of the USA and am looking forward to being back on the group rides this week! So come on out because ‘cross is definitely here! Please note that we’ve moved all the evening rides a little earlier to compensate for our quickly shortening days!

On that note our own race, Velocicross, is fast approaching (October 8 and 9) and we still need lots of volunteers to help make it happen. Interested in helping out? You can sign up right here! There are plenty of positions where you can volunteer AND still race!

Skin suitWant to feel fast, and maybe even actually go faster? You need a skinsuit!

These are usually special-order with 8+ weeks delivery, but lucky for you we currently have 7 of these in stock and ready for racing.

Also great for on the track, or as another kit when everything else is dirty during those long stage races.

Order now, and you’ll be racing in it by the weekend.
