A reminder that we have been invited participate in the Velothon (and received a discount!). This years Edmonton Velothon will be held on September 4th in conjunction with the Tour of Alberta. For more information, see the message below and sign up using the discount code:
“The Velothon takes place on a 20 km circuit in downtown Edmonton on closed roads, with much of the route being the exact same as the Tour of Alberta professional route. This is a great chance to race on roads that generally could not be safely ridden on due to traffic. The Velothon has both 60 and 100 km distances available – the choice is yours.
We also encourage team registrations, and have some added perks to make it more lucrative. For local Alberta clubs and shops, we are happy to offer a discount code that gives each registrant $25 off the cost of registration. Your unique $25 discount code is: ABLBSDISCOUNT0032
Additionally, for teams entering, the 6th registration is free! If you’re team reaches 5 members, please email me and I will pass along the code for the free entry. A team can be created during the registration process online.”
Old Velocity Clothing
As many of you know, we’ve moved over to using Jakroo for our club clothing. While this means that the club no longer has to hold onto stock items, it also means that we have a number of Garneau items (current design) left over that we are looking to get rid of for a discounted price! If you are interested, contact Ed Heacock (780 437 2979, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org) to see what is available.
The annual club climbing camp is back for 2017. Follow the link to sign up and to check out all the details, hope to see lots of you out there this year!
If you’ve already signed up to marshal the full day at the crit, amazing – we love you! If you’re racing and thought to yourself, “If only there was a way to race and volunteer,” have we got the solution for you! Based on discussions at the club ride last night, there is now an option to marshal in either the morning OR afternoon, so you get the best of both worlds; you can now race your heart out AND help keep your fellow riders safe on the roads. You can sign up to volunteer by clicking here. If you’re riding in the women’s crit and want to help out, send me an email at email@example.com and we can modify your marshaling time.
Hope to see you all this weekend!
Hello to all of our wonderful club members!
As you are probably aware, the Velocity Stage Race is coming up in 9 short days (May 13th & 14th). We have an awesome course, lots of great riders signed up, and some great weather predicted; the only thing we still need are volunteers to make sure we can actually run the event.
To those of you who have already volunteered, thank you! If you haven’t yet had a chance to volunteer, please consider doing so in the next few days. There are still positions that can be filled even if you are racing (i.e. placing signage on Saturday and set-up and take down on Sunday). Our greatest need is for road marshals; if you have friends/family coming out to support you, consider asking them if they would be willing to marshal.
All the information about volunteering can be found here, including links to the position descriptions and the signup sheet. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
This event is only possible with our incredible volunteers, we look forward to seeing you there!
