VCC Update – July 16, 2021

Ardrossan Ride

Considering last week was a big ride, and there could still be more smoke headed towards Edmonton skies, this Saturday the ride will be around 70km.

The ride starts at 9am from the Ardrossan Rec Centre. Ed will again be the main ride leader, taking you on this route:

Please save this link and/or download it to your GPS bike computer.

If air quality is bad, and you have lung issues, you may want to pass going for any long or hard rides in the coming days. If you do sign-up for the ride this weekend, but decide to skip it, please send Ed a short text before the 9am ride time letting him know about your change of plans.

Please pre-register by 7:30am Saturday morning for the ride >>>HERE<<<

VCC Track Night

Starting July 26, I’ll be running Monday night track training sessions at the Argyll Velodrome. We have bikes. All you need to bring are your own pedals (and shoes and helmet of course).

The first session on July 26 will be orientation for new track riders – anyone who wants to try – and then we’ll have some basic skills and drills sessions going forward. Of course if you’ve got your own track bike, please dust it off and come discover your track riding skills again too!

With the indoor Coronation Velodrome opening in about the 2025 time-frame, now is your chance to get ahead of the “newbie” crowds and get ready to add this exciting riding dimension to your cycling lifestyle!

More details and a sign-up form will be posted in next week’s update.

Tuesday Night Time Trials

Juventus Cycling Club is running a short summer series of Tuesday night 15km time trials, open to all ABA general and club members. The next one will be July 27, then August 17 and 31. I’ll have more details to post next week.

Crashing is part of cycling as crying is part of love.
