October 18 to 24 Update

Big BC Racing for Velocity BMX

A couple of our YEG Velocity BMX racers headed to Chilliwack to test their speed against some USA racers.

The USA Canadian BMX Grands brings out the best BMX’ers. Riders come from all over Canada and the US, including some world-ranked riders.

Although many riders from the US get the benefit of practicing year round, our team held their lines.

Jhett Hickey (7 years old) raced in two classes: Boys 7-8 Open and 7 Year Old Expert. Most predicted he wouldn’t be a contender. Yet this youngster proved he could make his finals … and finish top 8!

Kaileb Torrie (16 years old) raced 16 Expert class. He has been training hard, and learning to race with guts and glory.

Although his weekend had 3 crashes, Kaileb was able to pull out 4th and 6th place finishes.

The Velocity BMX Team is looking forward to flying to warmer states over the winter. Let’s keep the rubber side down and put Alberta on the map for BMX!

The Saturday ride starts in the Harvest Pointe shopping complex. Leaving 11am, it heads east, looping towards Cooking Lake. About two hours and just over 60kms. Strava Route posted HERE: https://www.strava.com/routes/21561893

No Sunday ride … so we can all get out and support Velocity CX in the Strathcona Science Park.
