Provincial Track Championships

This weekend the Argyll Velodrome hosts the Alberta Provincial Track Championships. Racing will run both Saturday and Sunday. Coach Kevin will be looking for some Master C riders to test himself against. But there’s always the clock, and the whims of the winds to give me a run for a Personal Best.

If you want to see first-hand what high level track racing looks like in Alberta, drop by sometime Saturday, or Sunday morning. Rain would be the only thing stopping us from competing this weekend. Alberta has developed some Olympic and Commonwealth Games medal winners, World Championships medalists, and even world record holders. Maybe you will witness the latest achievements of the next world champion!

Crits At Castrol #2 – Another Success!

Velocity members were all over the Group B and C podiums this time! It was Franky Tabaldo winning Group B, with Dayton Danielson in 2nd and Mike Wichuk in 3rd. Warren Goertzen taking second place in Group C and Kim Walter just off the podium in 4th. This is grass-roots racing at its finest. I was impressed to see such a large group racing Group C. Not just absolute numbers, but Velocity members too. This is how you learn race skills and test your race fitness. Pay attention to where your legs give out, and that informs what your next training phase should cover.

I’m hoping we can stay on course for Crits at Castrol #3 next month, on Tuesday August 28.
