July 12 – 18 Update

Provincial Criterium Championships

On Saturday, July 20, the Peloton Double-Down event will crown the Provincial Criterium Champions.

Have you got your registration in? It closes this coming Thursday.

And on Sunday, there’s a Part 2 criterium, not part of the championships. But why else would it be called “Double-Down” if you didn’t get a second chance to win something?

See the tech guide HERE if you’re interested in racing either event (or both).

Pigeon Lake Road Race This Sunday

ERTC hosts the resurgence of the Pigeon Lake Road Race on Sunday, staging from Mulhurst Bay.

If your event is 87km or longer (in the second wave of race starts at 11:20 or later) and you want me to give you feeds during the race, then please email me: coaching@velocitycyclingclub.ca

For the shorter events, you should be fine with 2 bottles on your bike. In fact, you’d only have one opportunity for a feed anyway, at around the 34km mark in your event.

Confident Rider Clinic on Thursday

A quick sign-up reminder for the Confident Rider Clinic this Thursday, July 18, 6pm.

This clinic is a basic cycling skills session for newer riders in the club, or anyone wanting a refresher of their riding ABCs – Attention, Balance and Control.

I’ll hold this session at Inglewood School Park, 11515 127 St NW, Edmonton. Expect about 2hrs of drills and a bit of discussion.

If you plan on attending, just send me an email. I’d like at least 3 riders to make this worthwhile for all. coaching@velocitycyclingclub.ca I hope the weather will cooperate – which has been a little reluctant to do this year! I’ll email those who sign-up in case we need to reschedule because of (more) rain.

See the EVENT LINK HERE.

Provincial Masters Road Championships

Chapeau to all members who lined up this past weekend at the Stampede Road Race and Provincial Masters.

And a special tip-of-the-hat goes to club President, Ed Heacock, who brought home the Silver medal in Masters D!

  • Monday is Hill Circuit night. Leaving from Hawrelak Park at 6pm. We’ll ride Zoo Hill and the Legislature Grounds.
