Midweek Time Trial
This Wednesday the race is a 20 km Individual Time Trial (ITT) on TWP 510 stating at RR 220. Sign on is $10.
Please park at the Olympiette Centre or South Cooking Lake and ride over. You could also park on 511A side road just off Hwy 14. No parking at the start/finish plese. Sign on at 6:30pm – first rider at 7.
This is a great opportunity to pull a Functional Threshold Power (FTP) and/or Lactate Threshold Heart Rate (LTHR) from your body! Your average power and heart rate (respectively) for this race will give you these classic performance markers. Use them to update your training zones going forward.
Time Trial / Triathlon bikes will be welcome for this race. (Sorry/not sorry, no e-bikes!) But I’ve seen really strong riders win ITTs on regular road bikes too! And it doesn’t matter which bike you use (well don’t use an e-bike) if you’re looking to get an FTP or LTHR.
Registration closes at 11:59am (just before noon) Wednesday. Here’s the ZONE 4 Registration Link.
Saturday Club Ride
This week we will start on the south side, just north of Beaumont. There’s a small strip mall in Charlesworth. Hopefully the wildfire smoke won’t be a problem. Leave at 10am. All the details are on our Event Calendar.
Virtual Club Meeting
This Thursday at 7pm we’ll have our regular monthly meeting via Zoom. If you’ve paid your membership fees, Dave Watson would have sent you an email with the link to use.
This is your opportunity to help shape the direction of YOUR club and/or just listen in on some of the summertime planning we have on deck.
Edmonton BMX Race Weekend

Here’s the Alberta BMX Registration Link.
The track is open for all to come watch the racing. Drop in and cheer on the Velocity kids and adults who are racing this weekend!
Monday 5- and 10-Milers
For the rest of June, Argyll Velodrome is hosting Monday drop-in 5- and 10-Milers at 7pm (right after our Monday club sessions).
What’s a “10-Miler?” It’s a steady paceline on the velodrome for 48 laps. It’s not a Scratch Race, though sometimes in the last 5 laps or so a few riders might try increasing the pace. It’s more of a workout session to help build your track endurance, ability to follow a wheel and safely exchange in the corners. The 5-Miler is simply half as long, with 24 laps.
If you come out for our club’s Monday session, feel free to stick around for one of these pacelines to finish your evening at the track!
