VCC July 24 Update

We’re putting the final details together for this year’s edition of the Afterburner Gravel Event. Race day is Saturday, August 15th. A new course has been plotted on the east side of the city in Beaver County, putting it within easy driving distance for you, our needed volunteers, as well as many of the local gravel racers.

Please check out the Volunteer Sign Up Sheet where you can select the role you’d like to fill. It should be a fantastic day of gravel racing!

Saturday Ride

Air Quality could be an issue. Make sure you check the website for any changes or cancellations we may need to make this weekend. If the AQHI is a 6 or less, then meet at 9am at the Olympiette Centre for a 102km route using much of TWP 510 … for its shady trees! If the AQHI is a 7 we will amend the course to something shorter. 8+ and we’ll cancel.

Sunday Ride

Sunday’s ride will be a 65km route that’s a little bit urban before it makes a rural loop southwest of the city. Meet at 9am in Hawrelak Park to head along the trails, under the Henday and across the North Saskatchewan, and loop around Blackhawk.

Sunday Gravel Ride

We’re hoping for dry gravel so we don’t have to cancel this one again! Enjoy an 82km loop from Sherwood Park up to Fort Saskatchewan. Meet at 9am in front of Millennium Place in Sherwood Park.

Track Sessions Resume

If the repair work completes as planned, our weekly sessions will resume this coming Wednesday.

Thursday Hill Circuit

Join our hill circuit on Thursday evening at 6:30pm. Meet up in the north parking lot of Hawrelak Park. The lot may be busier than usual as the city completes set up for the Heritage Day Festival on the August long weekend.
