VCC August 22 Update

Airport Fondo

The club’s BIG RIDE has arrived! The regular Saturday programming is being switched out for the Cessna Fondo route (~100km). And about a dozen of you are going on a quest … taking on the 737 or Jumbo Jet routes.

And even if you’re not feeling up for the Cessna, you could still join the rest of us at 8am at the Olympiette Centre to ride with the group to Twin Lakes and Cooking Lake. Rounding back to the Olympiette Centre, that would give you about a 25km ride and an honourable mention for doing something I might call the Hang Glider Route.

Sunday Gravel Ride
With the big day Saturday, we don’t have a gravel ride planned this weekend.

Track Night
Sorry folks that I had to make a last-minute cancellation to last week’s track session. I’ll be back this week with your endurance session on Monday evening.

Wednesday Hills
Hills are hard. Hills are good! And those cyclocross legs will benefit too. Emily Murphy Park at 6:30pm.

Midweek Race
The series will be wrapping up this next week. I’ll post what the final fun event will be as soon as I hear from the organizers! www.emrcracing.com

Afterburner Gravel Event Is Just 2 Weeks Away!
We’re hosting a weekend of fun this year, back in Alder Flats. Tell all your gravel racing friends they can come camping on Saturday, September 7, to race the Afterburner Gravel on Sunday! This year, for those wanting the full pointy-end experience, we’re offering ABA Provincial Championships for the Open Men and Open Women categories, with our own special awards for the top placing 50+ Men and Women too!

Of course none of these events can happen unless we’ve got some help from you, our club members. Have a look at the volunteer positions we need a bit of help with, and fulfill your club membership volunteer commitment.

Please, if you can help, place your name on our Volunteer Sign Up Form
