Halfway Through Summer
It’s already the August long weekend, but you’ve still lots of time to ride. The air quality is holding (for now at least). The heat wave has blown off. These are the prime days for summertime riding, whether that’s one of our weekend rides or the midweek hill circuit.
If you’re not leaving town this weekend (anyone racing the Tour de Bowness in Calgary?), then stretch your legs on the Saturday ride, which leaves from Ardrossan. The route will cover some of the roads that next weekend’s Great Canadian Fondo is covering, as well as some of the old Velocity Stage Race circuit, for those with long-enough memories to remember! I’m taking my parents to a family reunion just outside Regina this weekend, so prepare to take charge of your own groups this weekend.
Sunday Gravel Ride
This weekend we’ve got an interesting loop planned on the west side of the city. Meet at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church near Carvel. The Anohka Distillery is nearby and could still be open in the afternoon for a visit to “gin-up” your post ride recovery!
Track Night
No track this week as the velodrome will be closed for Holiday Monday.
Midweek Race
Racing took a break last week. I believe it resumes this week. I’ll send out an email if I hear anything for this coming Wednesday. You can also see if anything has been posted on the Edmonton Midweek Racing Club website: www.emrcracing.com
Wednesday Hills
Give your legs a mid-week dose of intensity on our river valley circuit. Meet in Emily Murphy Park at 6:30pm.
