VCC April 11 Update

Paris-Roubaix Weekend!

We’ll be streaming the final 2 hours of the spring classic Paris-Roubaix Bike Race this Sunday morning. With the rough cobbles playing centre role in this race, and next to no climbing, it will be super-interesting to see if the dominant Tadej Pogačar can withstand the brutal beatings of the cobbles, and join the ranks of Cycling’s truly “Hardmen.”

Meet at Curt Roper’s south Edmonton real estate office – Royal LePage Noralta, 3018 Calgary Trail. Doors open at 6:30am. The race will finish between 8:30 and 9am. Coffee and snacks will be provided.

Post-race, probably about 9:15 or 9:30, we’ll hold our monthly club meeting, provided we have enough of the executive in attendance.

Please put your name on the Paris-Roubaix Watch Party sign up form, so we know how much coffee and snacks to plan for the morning:

Jakroo Store Open
Our Jakroo store is now open with dynamic pricing drops until the order window closes on Sunday, April 20. As we pass the volume-threshold pricing for each item, the final pricing is matched for everyone. Your order will be fulfilled at the end of the window with the best prices we’ve reached. It won’t matter when you place your order during the window. You will all get the best prices on the last day.

Right now, the bib shorts have reached the next price threshold, and are 30% off the regular single-order pricing!

Check your own kit inventory and add or replace things today!

Equipment Inventory
Our Equipment Coordinator, Randy Murchison, is taking an inventory of what equipment the club still has on-hand.

His work has begun at the Argyll Velodrome, checking over all of the track bikes. As we get ready to shut down Argyll later this year, the club will most likely be selling off our bikes – hopefully to club members – for their own personal use at the new indoor velodrome. Randy will write up the inventory for us so we can let you all know what’s going to be available.

Also, since this is a full inventory of what the club owns, please check your own garage for anything that you might still have, and let Randy know. This could be tents, first aid kits, and anything else the club has bought over the years. BMX team, we’d also need to include the club equipment you’ve got.

Penticton Riding Camp
We’ll be riding the hopefully sunny roads of the Okanagan Valley at the end of the month. Core riding days will be Sunday, April 27 to Saturday March 3, leaving from the Tiki Shores Motel parking lot. I’m working of the final details for this year’s itinerary and will have them posted soon. We’ve put together a WhatsApp Chat Group to help coordinate the daily plan. Please let me know you’re coming so we can get you added to the group: coaching@velocitycyclingclub.ca

Saturday Ride
Meet at the Olympiette Centre again for this week’s ride. The daytime temperatures are still a bit sluggish to rise, so we’ll leave again at 12pm. Expect it to be sunny but windy this week!
