Alberta Velodrome – Strength and Conditioning Access

Where: Alberta Velodrome – Coronation Park Sport and Recreation Centre

When: 7:00pm to 8:00pm – This is our access hour. Arrive early to get changed into your workout gear. Individual gender-neutral change rooms are open right now.

What: Our club has exclusive access to the resistance training equipment located in the “Cycling-D” infield area of the velodrome. There are 3 Olympic Lifting squat racks, a leg press, a variety of TRX cables, plyometric boxes, medicine balls and dumbbells. Bring your own routine and share the stations with your club mates.

AVA has supplied the club with this introductory routine (if uses minimal equipment to start, so you could try this at home too): Velocity Cycling-D Strength Routine – Month 1

The area is intermittently supervised for safety by the Track Monitor on-duty, but no specific on-site coaching is planned. Coach Kevin will attend session times as his schedule allows.

How: You must pre-register for these sessions on the Alberta Velodrome Club Rider Registration Form This is the same registration link as for our weekly velodrome sessions. So if you selected “all sessions” when you signed up for those, you should already be on the list for these Monday sessions too. If you don’t register, Security will not let you in the building.

Enter parking from 135 St (behind Westmount Shopping Centre, gated lot)
🚫 No access from Ross Shepard HS, Queen Elizabeth Planetarium, or Telus World of Science.
✔️ Wear recreation-centre appropriate footwear

Present yourself to Security stationed at the door next to the Loading Dock (not the front glass doors yet).
