Velocity Hosts Day 1 of Provincial Cyclocross Weekend
Just a month away, mark your calendars on Saturday, October 19, to help us run the warm-up event before the Sunday Provincial Championships. We team up with Pedalhead Road Works to host a weekend of cyclocross at the Strathcona Science Park. The last few years we’ve hosted on the opening weekend of ‘cross racing in Alberta. But that’s meant some rather warm “unseasonable” ‘cross racing. With our new weekend deep in the fall, we hope we’ll be able to treat ‘cross racers to a right and proper weekend of racing!
We’ll get all the details organized soon and publish a Volunteer Signup Form for you to let us know where you can help.
Saturday Ride
Saturday’s ride is planned for the east side of the city, leaving from the Olympiette Centre at 10am. I’ve planned a clockwise loop around Cooking Lake, taking in the twisty turns of Antler Lake along the way.
Roger’s Harvest Ride – October 5
We’re honouring our memories of the late Roger Tetrault with the Harvest Ride he started for the club and all of Edmonton’s cycling community many years back. Join us and bring your family, invite your cycling community friends too. Make your own donation to cancer research in Alberta. We have trail and road ride options planned, departing from the Waskahegan Trail Staging Area.
As we plan to host a post-ride BBQ, please sign up by Thursday, October 3, on our Event Page, so we can have enough food on hand for everyone.
