VCC March 18, 2022 Update

Starting MONDAY – Club Clothing Orders

Our Jakroo Clothing Store will be open on Monday, March 21 about 11am to begin collecting club orders. It will close on Monday, April 4.

The store will be in “Team Order” mode for 2 weeks only. During this period, you’ll see the current price for your kit. But as more members place their orders, and we move past certain quantity thresholds, everyone’s order will be placed on April 4 at the final lowest prices.

Based on the pre-survey, here’s what you can probably expect to pay per-item (and maybe less, because not everyone will respond to a survey):

  • Vuelta Pro Long Sleeve Jersey: $163
  • Echelon Skinsuit: $306
  • Red Nova Pro Jersey: $165
  • White Nova Pro Jersey: $165
  • Solar Pro Bib Shorts: $159.25
  • Cadence Pro non-Bib Shorts: $165
  • Vapor Pro Wind Vest: $181
  • Century Cycling Cap: $30
  • Bodo Neck Wrap: $28

This year Jakroo has a new design for the wind vest. The Vapor Pro has more of an all-weather design, providing some water repellent qualities front and back with mesh side-panels. It fits a bit more relaxed too. So if you want a snug fit, consider sizing down. But personally, I’d stick with my standard size, because a wind vest is worn over top of a couple of other layers in most cases.

Here is the link to our store: https://designlab.jakroo.com/store-front?storeId=ryW2Ilbf9

You can go browse everything there right now, and see their sizing charts. In my experience, the size charts are quite accurate. Grab a tape measure and use the charts to find the right size for you.

Your order will be shipped directly to you from the Jakroo factory in China. With current COVID disruptions over there, we expect about a week delay in deliveries. This might mean your order won’t arrive before our Penticton Camp. So plan your camp packing accordingly.

Penticton Spring Riding Camp

Arrive Saturday, April 23. Ride with us daily from Sunday, April 24 to Saturday the 30th. Pack a full variety of riding gear, but expect most days to reach about 15° – and maybe even over 20° down near Osoyoos.

We depart each morning around 10am from the Tiki Shores Motel, where most of us will be staying. Call them direct to book your room: 1-866-492-8769.

March Club Update Meeting Next Week

Watch for your email invite to our next monthly meeting, March 22 at 7pm.

Edmonton Masters Cycling Club Brings Back Tuesday Night Racing!

EMCC is bringing their weekly club racing back to the city! And moving it to Tuesdays to better accommodate the ebb and flow of all our club ride schedules.

Their plans are to hold a series of Time Trials, Criteriums, Road Races and Track Nights in strictly controlled ability categories with field limits of 10-12. Safe racing will be key to keep it fun and a prime learning experience for everyone.

To participate as a Velocity member, you’ll need to be a second-claim club member of EMCC at $50 for the full year. To make the whole series successful, you will be asked to volunteer to help run at least one of the events. But you know the deal, without volunteers we’d have no racing at all!

Also, the EMCC executive has some vacancies that they’ll need to fill. Currently they need: a Vice President, Treasurer and Events Director. Please consider one of these positions when you take out your second-claim EMCC membership and get back to racing this season.

Club Ride Next Saturday??

If this weather continues to hold, I will organize our first club ride for Saturday, March 26 @ 11am – probably departing from the Olympiette Centre. Look for further details in next week’s club update.
