VCC Update – July 2, 2021

Staying Hydrated

If you’ve been riding at all during this heat wave, water has been your best protection. Sip throughout the hours before riding, and plan on carrying more than your normal volume on the bike too.

This Saturday’s ride will again start at 9am from the Olympiette Centre. Ed is the main ride leader, taking you on this new 85km route around the Ministik Lake Game Sanctuary:

Besides carrying 2 water bottles on your bike, it’s probably a good idea to put a 3rd in your jersey pocket too. Expect the ride to take about 3 hours.

It’s great that we’ve reached the Stage 3 phase of the Open for Summer plan. Yet please remember the COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t completely gone away. There are still some risks, especially for the unvaccinated. Though vaccination is not mandatory to participate in our group rides, Velocity Cycling Club strongly encourages you to get fully vaccinated (2 doses) against the COVID-19 virus and its variants. There are still quarantine regulations in place if any COVID-19 exposure happens on our group rides. For those who have been fully vaccinated, no quarantine is needed at all if you do not develop any symptoms.

We still need ride preregistrations to ask you the COVID-19 symptom screening questions, and should any follow-up contact tracing become necessary.

Please preregister by 7:30am Saturday morning for this ride >>>HERE<<<

The best routes are the ones you haven’t ridden.
