AGM and Year-End Party

Velocity Cycling Club organizes an event at the end of each season to get together and celebrate our accomplishments. Again for 2017, the Year End Party will be preceded by the Annual General Meeting (AGM). So come on out! In a single evening, you can celebrate our accomplishments from the season, and influence the direction that our club is heading next!

2017 Event Summary

Date: Saturday, November 25, 2017 (Rescheduled to early 2018, date TBD)
Location: Queen Alexandra Community Hall, 10425 University Ave NW
Cost: $10 each, $20/family (2 adults + children under 18)
Schedule: AGM at 6pm, Party at 7pm

Annual General Meeting

What’s more important than celebrating our accomplishments? Ensuring our organization is strong enough to support even more accomplishments!

The Annual General Meeting is an important opportunity for Club members to contribute to our ongoing success. Help by nominating a Board Member, and voting to elect board members for 2018 season.

Board Positions

All board positions are available for election or re-election. This includes the following positions:Board-Meeting-SM_1 (cropped)

  • President
    • Supervise and manage the general affairs and operations of the Club
    • Oversee all committees and paid positions
  • Vice-President
    • Support and assist the President and perform presidential duties in their absence
    • Assume the role of President in the year following your term
  • Secretary
    • Responsible for records of meetings, members, Club documents
  • Treasurer
    • Responsible for Club finances and financial records
    • Liaise with Alberta Corporate Registries and Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission to maintain compliance and successful working relationships
  • Directors (3 positions available)
    • Assume a contributing position of your liking, including:
      • Clothing/Equipment Management
      • Volunteer Coordination
      • Social and Communication
      • BMX Representation
      • Club Advisor
    • Serve on various committees as established throughout the season, including:
      • Spring Training Camp
      • Velocity Stage Race
      • Climbing Camp
      • Many more…


If you know someone who you think would fit one of these positions, you can nominate them for that position at the AGM. Nominations can occur prior to the AGM (we recommend by email, cc:, or at the AGM. If a nomination is accepted (again, either ahead of time or at the AGM) the nominee will have an opportunity to address the Club before their positions is voted upon.

Any member can attend the AGM or be nominated for a Board of Directors position, no pre-registration is required.


After the the business is out the way, it’s time to party! Registration required (see link at the top of this page)

Cash Bar – There will be a cash bar available

Dinner – Dinner will be provided by Chianti’s

Awards – Recognize the individuals who have made an impact on our club
