Highwood Pass Climbing Weekend
June 1 - June 2
Planning on attending? Then please email Coach Kevin: firstname.lastname@example.org
Saturday, June 1
Meet up 9:30am at Pocaterra Hut, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. Ride up, down, and back over the Highwood Pass – Canada’s highest elevation paved roadway. Closed on this loop to all traffic until June 15.
Watch for wildlife on the course.
114km Highwood Pass out-and-back from the Pocaterra Hut parking lot: https://www.strava.com/routes/…
An alternate option is to split this into 2 groups. Those members staying the the Longview area can ride out-and-back from the south end of the course. This way neither group needs to spend more than an hour commuting to the starting point. We’ll all meet up in the middle!
Saturday Evening Group Dinner at Paul & Teresa’s condo accommodations in Canmore.
Sunday, June 2
Checkout of accommodations, and meetup 10am in Banff at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre.
Ride options include:
34km Banff Minnewanka-Tunnel Mountain Loop – memories of the old Banff Bike Fest: https://www.strava.com/routes/…
Reports say the Bow Valley Parkway is closed for construction right not. So, the following circuit is an alternative:
Head to Lake Louise Village and riding the Bow Valley Parkway from there south to Castle Mountain Junction – then up to Chateau Lake Louise when returning to Lake Louise (62km): https://www.strava.com/routes/19245351
Grab lunch in Lake Louise before driving back home.
