Weekly Update: April 24-30


The Velocity Stage Race is fast approaching!

I feel like these messages have been coming every week but once again we’ve been hit with some of the best (or worst) that Mother Nature has to offer. Oh well. One of these days it’ll be spring!

With that in mind, it seems unlikely that we’ll be able to have our Tuesday Hill Ride. The final call with be made tomorrow. However and much like last week, things seems to be looking up by the middle of the week for the Thursday evening Sweetspot/Tempo ride from Colchester School. For the time being, sit tight, become more well acquainted with your trainer, and considering letting some club members know if you plan on being on Zwift tonight!

Don’t forget that the Velocity Stage Race (May 13-14) is quickly approaching. The race webpage is up and registration should be open any day!

Of course, we also need over 60 volunteers to make this race happen, so please make sure that you consider signing up for a position – there are even number of positions that you can do even if you want to race on the weekend!

Finally, please note that Coach Michael will be gone this weekend to race Paris to Ancaster.

Day by Day Schedule

Tuesday, April 25: Urban Hills

Come on out for Urban Hills night! Worried that you aren’t fit enough? Well don’t be! Urban Hills is perfect for all levels. After each set of hills (and you can choose to do as many or as few as you’d like) we regroup and ride a nice easy pace to the next climb. 

Start Time: 6:00pm at the Ritchie Market, 6:15 at Cloverdale Hill

Ride Start Location: Ritchie Market at 6:00, Cloverdale Hill at around 6:15. We will end the ride at Rosso Pizzeria and you are more than welcome to stick around for a pizza post-ride!

Thursday, April 27: Sweetspot/Tempo Workout

Come join us for a Sweetspot/Tempo workout that’s sure to get you ready for race season! This week will feature 3 x (approx.) 10’ Sweetspot intervals. We’ll regroup after each interval, so don’t worry about how fit (or unfit) you think you are.

Start Time: 5:00pm from Ritchie Marke, 6:00pm from Colchester School

Ride Start Location: Ritchie Market at 5:00pm, Colchester School at 6:00pm

Saturday, April 29: Velocity Casual Road Ride

A casual, early season group ride suitable for all skill levels. If there are enough people, we will split into two groups. 

Start Location: Transcend at Ritchie Market (9am) or  Colchester School (10am)

Start Time: Leave at 9am from Ritchie Market, 10pm from Colchester.

Details: Road ride at a no-drop pace. If the weather requires, we’ll do some echelon training.

Route Map: 82km from Colchester School, additional 20km each way from Ritchie Market 

Sunday, April 30: Spring Series Road Race

The second spring series race of the year. Since there isn’t parking at the venue, I would encourage everyone to ride out to the race.

Start Location: Transcend at Ritchie Market (11am) or  Colchester School (12pm) to ride out the race.

Start Time: Leave at 11am from Ritchie Market, 12pm from Colchester to arrive in time of the 1pm Race Start.

  • Our Calendar is always up to date, however changing conditions may require a last minute update or cancellation, which will be announced on Twitter. Watch the @VelocityBikeAB Twitter feed for any last minute changes or cancellations. This feed is also shown on the main page of the website.
