Weekly Update: September 12-18

That’s right, you are looking at the winners of the team competition at the DV100. And what a competition is was! We took the title by a mere 2 seconds over the next team.

Because of the the power weather last weekend, the Edmonton International City Track Championships are back for another week this upcoming Saturday. Scroll down for all the details.

Guess what? It’s still ‘cross season! As of last week, we’ve transitioned both of our Weekly rides to ‘cross rides. On Tuesday’s, we now have out CX Endurance ride. We’ll leave from  Velocity Cycle at 6:30pm and, just like we did on Thuesday’s all August, hit the trails from there. There’s also a  Midweek Race, our Thursday Skills Night, and the Drie Zussen Provincial Championships in Calgary this weekend!

Tuesday, September 13: ‘Cross Endurance Ride

Start Time: 6:30pm at Velocity Cycle

Ride Start LocationVelocity Cycle

Ride Plan: An Endurance ‘cross ride leaving from Velocity Cycle. We’ll ride a mix of single track and multi-use trails during this 1.5 hour ride. See our Club Rides page for all the details.

Wednesday, September 14: Women’s Ride

Start Time: 6:00pm

Ride Start Location: Parking Lot at the Muttart Conservatory 

Ride Plan: A women’s ride for all skills levels that will tackle some of the River Valley’s nicest climbs.

Wednesday, September 14: CX Alberta Midweek Races p/b United Cycle

Start Time: 6:00pm for registration, racing starts at 7:00pm

Ride Plan: Edmonton’s favourite cyclocross midweek race series is back for another series. You can sign up for the entire series here or just show up on the day with $5. Please not that these are not Velocity Events and the club is not responsible for cancellations. For updates, cancellations, photos, and anything else you might, follow the series on Facebook and Twitter.


Thursday, September 15:  Cyclocross Skills

Start Time: 6:30pm

Ride Start LocationVelocity Cycle, 6:45 at Argyll Park

Ride Plan: (1.5 hours) Cyclocross Skills Ride geared toward all skill levels! This will be a skills based ride (perfect for a recovery day) that focuses on the fundamentals of Cyclocross. See the Club Rides page for more details.

Route Map: Ride will mainly take place in Argyll Park.


Saturday, September 17: Women’s Ride

Start Time: 10:00am from the Strathcona Olympiette Centre

Ride Plan: All levels of riders welcome! There will be a strict no drop policy.  Rides will be 40-60km in length, depending on who attends and how everyone feels that day

Sunday, September 18: Drie Zussen Cyclocross Provincials

The Drie Zussen Provincials Championships in Canmore are the third stop for the ABA Cup. For all the details, make sure you have a look at their Tech Guide.
